One hundred civil servants of between Grade Levels 1 – 10 yesterday became house or land owners through balloting, organised by Enugu State Government for a housing estate built by the state Housing Corporation at Nike, Enugu.
This was in fulfilment of the government’s resolve to improve the workers’ welfare, apart from the steady and prompt monthly salary.
In the same vein, the state governor, while presenting the keys to the lucky winners of the houses in Elim Estate, also presented 18 pickup vans to security agencies as well as the Nigerian Television Authority, Enugu Station.
The governor also presented 20 tractors to aid farming and farmers in the state.
Of the 18 pickup vans, police got 10, Army 2, Airforce 2, DSS 2, Civil Defence 2, and NTA 1.
While making the presentations at a colourful ceremony at Okpara Square, Independence Layout, Enugu, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi said that his government would lead with the fear of God even as he re-iterated his commitment to provide quality leadership to the people.
Ugwuanyi thanked the people of the state for their support and prayers and urged them to continue to pray for them to ensure good governance.
He said it has been the wish of his government to provide adequate security for the state, hence the donating of the vans to security agencies to respond quickly when security need arises.
