Two middle-aged men were Saturday crushed to death in a ghastly motor accident involving a coaster bus and a motorcycle at Umugaragu Enyiogugu of Aboh Mbaise LGA in State.
The two victims whose names were given respectively as Goddy Amaechi and Mr. Chukwu Elenwa, 45, were said to have died on the spot when they were forcefully hit by the big truck after the driver lost control of the bus following the bursting of one of the front tyres while the vehicle was accelerating.
Mr. Amaechi, 50, who hails from Umuogi Ihitteoha Village and co- traveller, Mr. Elenwa from Ubahi Village all in Mbutu Nweorie Community of Aboh Mbaise LGA, of the state met their untimely death while on their way to Afor Enyiogugu market that fateful Saturday.
Nigerian Pilot reliably gleaned that Goddy Amaechi whose father died late last year presently has his mother and eldest brother’s wife lying stone dead before he met his sudden end at the weekend.
A source from the village that preferred anonymity confirmed to our reporter that the fate of the Amaechi’s may not be unconnected to a protracted land dispute in their family which allegedly involved invocation of the dreaded “Ala Ogbaga” deity in Mbaise.
Frantic efforts by passersby who rushed to the scene immediately the accident occurred, to save the two men failed as they both gave up the ghost in a matter of minutes following severing of their bodies in the auto crash.
The rider of the motorbike, it was learnt, was badly hit on the head even as he crashed dangerously on the tarred road while his passenger was almost sliced into two parts.
Some of the sympathisers who could identify the two victims as they laid lifeless by the roadside, revealed that Amaechi was going to the market to procure some items for his wife who delivered a baby a couple of months ago.
