But for the quick intervention of the police and members of a vigilante group, two ladies would have spilled blood over a shared lover.
The two ladies, Chinwe Nzogbu and Angela, yesterday engaged in physical combat at Umuhuali Community, Ishielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State over who wins the heart of a lover-boy, Nkemjika.
Nkemjika is a telephone mechanic at Nkalagu junction in the area. Already, Angela is claiming she is four months pregnant for him.
It was gathered that Chinwe had been into serious relationship with Nkemjika for four years, but trouble ensued when she caught him making love advances to another woman, Angela. Subsequently, she challenged Angela over the relationship and it resulted in physical combat between them.
Nkemjika and his newfound love, Angela, had concluded arrangements to travel to Eha-mufu, Enugu State, apparently for the young man to present the girl to the family, when Chinwe got wind of it and immediately arranged a group of boys to beat up Nkemjika and bring him back to her.
The boys led by a man fondly called ‘Daddy’ overtook the two lovebirds on their way to Ehamufu and attacked them. They, thereafter, abducted Nkemjika and took him to Chinwe, who confronted him with the facts.
When the case was brought to police in the area, Chinwe insisted that Nkemjika should choose between the options of returning to her or return the property she bought for him while their relationship lasted, which she said included television set, DVD player, mattress, some clothes and other household items.
The embattled Nkemjika accepted the latter option while his property including three GSM handsets, a motorcycle and others, which were confiscated on the day of his arrest by the police were later released to him.
Nkemjika and Angela were said to have reaffirmed their undying love for each other and would go ahead to legalise their union as husband and wife.
