Secretary to Osun State government, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti has said that the display of political maturity and understanding by political stakeholders in the nation’s democratic process had placed Nigeria in global map as a democratic country.
Adeoti, who stated this in Osogbo yesterday while commenting on successful conduct of the general elections, said Nigerians had imbibed right political culture.
He noted that the success of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in the elections at all levels of governance was a strong indication that Nigerians were yearning for positive change.
He also urged the president-elect to work assiduously to reposition the nation for economic development, saying the country was in a state of disrepair.
Adeoti who, noted that APC being a progressive party had solution to mirage of challenges confronting the nation, submitted that the party would adopt the developmental model of Osun State to transform the nation.
He expressed optimism that General Muhammadu Buhari would bring his age long experience to bear in public administration, especially in the management of human and material resources.
Adeoti lauded Independent National Electoral Commission for its ingenuity and commitment towards sanitising the electoral system, noting that President Jonathan had demonstrated high sense of statesmanship for conceding defeat before the announcement of final result.
He called on Nigerians to support the president-elect in his bid to transform the country to enviable height through laudable people oriented programmes.
On his part, the chief of staff to the governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola maintained that the victory of APC in most of the states of the federation would change the face of the entire nation within a short period.
Oyetola, who hinted that General Buhari had the political strength and intellectual base to fix the nation’s multi-demisional challenges, congratulated Nigerians for making right decision capable of consolidating the nation’s democracy.
He noted that the step had shown that Nigeria had come of age in electoral process and democratic governance, saying that APC would further strengthen the system and make it the best in the world.
Allhaji Oyetola, who said Nigeria was blessed with abundant mineral resources and human capacity, maintained that General Buhari would harness the potential to turn around the country for positive change.
He identified economic stagnation as the bane of the nation’s growth, saying economic re-engineering must be the cardinal focus of General Buhari to save Nigerians from the shackles of poverty and unemployment.
