Dr Dennis Ekumankama, the state Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development said this in Abakaliki during the presentation of the 2016 budget breakdown.
“The state was targeting over N6billion from other Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, sources, as this makes the total IGR projection to N26billion.
He noted that the state would fund the budget with N25billion from statutory allocation, N12billion from capital receipts, and N17billion from internal and external loans.
“The budget estimate of N101billion projects N62billion for capital expenditure and N39 billion for recurrent expenditure.
He said: “the capital expenditure, has N10billion allocated for administration, economy: N49billion, law and justice: N430million, regional planning/ works: N100million and social sector: N10billion.
He said the recurrent expenditure allocated N9billion for administration, economy: N23billion, law and justice: N657million, regional planning/works: N28billion and social sector: N6billion”.
He assured the citizens that the various tax rates outlined by the government was for the development and not meant to make things hard for them.
“The tax rates are among the least that can be obtained in other states of the country, as we assure the people that we would judiciously utilise the all generated funds.
He appealed to people to support the governor to actualise the 2016 budget, as it would enhance the state’s well-being.
