A reconciliatory meeting amongst members of Laderin community in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital yesterday turned sour as a 20 year old Emmanuel Olalekan was beaten to death.

The incident according to an eyewitness, happened during a peace meeting initiated to settle the face-off between some members of the community which is a stone throw from the Oke-Mosan Governor’s office.

The meeting was said to have turned to argument while a fight ensued in the process leading to the death of the 20 year old boy.

The deceased who was said to be part of the meeting was allegedly beaten with charms and immediately slumped and died.

The ugly incident was said to have been reported to Kemta Police Station by a community leader identified as Semiu Morodolu.

Team of detectives led by the Divisional Crime Office of the division, Yakubu Momoh later visited the scene of the incident.

The police officers who reportedly met the lifeless body of the boy quickly rushes him to Apata Aye Hospital in Kobiti area of the town where he was confirmed dead.

The corpse was however deposited at Abeokuta South Local Government mortuary while the investigation lasted.

As at the time of this report, four suspects have been arrested in connection to the murder case.

They included a 45 year old Najimu; 25 year old Tobi Fajimi, Sunday Fajimi, 30; Serifi Jimoh, 22 and one Debo.

When contacted, Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the story and added that the arrested suspects allegedly caused the death of the victim.

Adejobi added that preliminary investigations have commenced while the case has been transfered to the Criminal Investigation Department at the police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta
