Twenty-five-year-old man, Abubakar Usman, who killed his mother and brother’s wife with machete in Kosubosu, headquarters of Baruten Local government of Kwara State, has been apprehended and is cooling his feet in the net of the Kwara State Police Command.
The suspect was among numerous suspected criminals arrested and paraded by the new Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Olushola Amore, at his maiden interaction with journalists at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin.
Abubakar, who hails from Mamba camp, was said to have killed his 65-year-old mother, Khadijat Usman, as well as his brother’s wife, Ramatu Shagari, 35, shortly after slaughtering a cow with machete for no reason.
Speaking to Nigerian Pilot correspondent, Abubakar confessed that truly he machetted the duo of Khadijat and Ramatu but that he could not ascertain their whereabouts since he was apprehended by the police.
He, however, claimed ignorance of the circumstances that led to the killing of the two victims, stressing that all he could remember was that he matchetted both of them without any reason.
Also paraded were Yahaya Umar and Abubakar Saletu, both of Wobe Fulani Camp via Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area, who were found in possession of a bag contains a human head and other deadly items.
According to the CP, “Further investigation revealed that the suspects took the head to one Alhaji Kuranga of Muhat Company to buy, the said head Alhaji refused and raised alarm. A search in the bush led the recovery of a headless body who had been declared missing earlier and which the suspects confessed to have killed.”
Similarly, a suspected kidnapper, Issa Babatunde Nurudeen was arrested by the police along Ilorin/Offa Road and investigations conducted on him revealed that the various charms found on him were prepared for him by his father against gunshot and prevention from arrest.
“One Lekan Bello and two others now at large went to WALEX Pharmacy along Gaa-Akanbi area in an attempt to rob the owner of the pharmacy; (but) with prompt intervention from the police and people around, the suspect was pursued and arrested with one locally made pistol and live cartridge,” Amore added.
The police boss therefore urged members of the public to be at alert and always provide information on their whereabouts to family members and also avoid abetting crime and criminality in their areas.
