Following the mass disconnection of military formations in our franchise area, our staff in Tudun Wada Service Centre in Gusau, Zamfara state, Abdullahi Mohammed Bambur, was arrested this morning by men of the 1 Base Ammunition Depot, Gusau.
The decision to embark on the mass disconnection of military formations was collectively agreed by all Distribution Companies under the aegis of the Association of Nigerian Electricity Distributors, ANED, after numerous unsuccessful attempts to get them to pay up the huge debts they owe.
Military, paramilitary formations and MDAs within our franchise area, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, owe Kaduna Electric about N8.2 billion. This money if paid would have been used to improve our services to our customers.
We, therefore, strongly call on the Commanding Officer of the 1 Base Ammunition Depot to immediately release our colleague who has done nothing wrong but to carry out his legitimate duties.
