It was a sad moment for the
families of three children and
another 30-year-old man who
were all drowned in a well
that resulted in their death in
Bauchi local government area
of Bauchi State last week.
Nigerian Pilot Saturday
gathered that three children of
Alkasim Abdullahi of Tudun
Salmanu in Bauchi metropolis
were drowned in a well inside
an uncompleted building;
while another 30-year-old
man, Abubakar Muhammad a
water distributor also lost his
life while trying to fetch water
from the well.
Confirming the incidence in
a statement signed by the state
Police Public Relations Officer,
DSP Haruna Muhammad, and
made available to journalists
said the deceased children
are three year old Huzaifa
Alkassim, Hauwa Alkassim
and Abubakar Alkasim who
are both two years old, all
were found dead in a well of a
Similarly, a 30-year-old
water vendor, Abubakar
Muhammad of Bakin Kura
area in Bauchi metropolis was
drowned inside a well at the
ever-busy Muda Market in the
DSP Haruna Muhammad,
said the incident happened
at about 1pm on Tuesday,
adding that the remains of the
deceased were deposited in
the mortuary of the Abubakar
Tafawa Balewa University
Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH
in Bauchi.
“Scene was visited by police
detectives attached to Tafawa
Balewa Housing Estate
Division and victims rushed
to ATBU Teaching Hospital,
Bauchi and were all certified
dead by a medical doctor.
On the May 14, 2015 at
about 0900hrs, one Abubakar
Mohammed male, 30, of Bakin
Kura ward, Bauchi, a water
vendor fell into the well while
fetching water at Muda Lawal
market and got drowned
inside,” DSP Haruna said.
He, however, stated that the
police were still investigating
the case.
