No fewer than 4,500 members of Muslims Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN, delegates are set to attend 73rd National Islamic Vocation Course, IVC, for 19 Northern States and FCT Abuja that holds in Minna the Niger state capital.
The event which has the theme: Purposeful Leadership: a tool for good governance and positive change, said that the essence was to bring the youths under one umbrella to inculcate in them to stand for unity and need for peaceful coexistence in the country.
The Chairman of Local Organising Committee, LOC, Ustaz Yabagi Alfa made the disclosure in a press briefing at the weekend in Minna, intimating that the event is scheduled for between 22nd and 28th December, 2015 assuring that adequate preparation has been concluded for the hosting of the occasion including security of lives and properties.
Alfa who was optimistic of the event said that the delegates will comprise of brothers and sisters in Islam with 70% from secondary schools and the rest from tertiary institutions in Nigeria as participants.
He added that male and female participants were to be accommodated in Police Secondary School and Government Girls Secondary School respectively even as they were not unaware of the security challenges facing the nation.
He noted that the instructor or resource persons were intellectuals from higher Institutions of learning tested and well known for preaching peace devoid of abuses, brotherhood, non- violence and peaceful coexistence of the country.
The cleric who regretted the way and manner youths were being used to perpetuate all kinds of devilish acts and religious violence in some parts of the country as very unfortunate, explaining that the Forum will be used to discourage youths from such acts by seeing themselves as leaders of tomorrow.
Accordingly, “MSSN came into being in 1954 with its objectives of teaching the true knowledge of Islam to Muslims, Inculcating Islamic Moral values, Promoting the spirit of unity and brotherhood among Muslim students and other Muslims in general.
Developing the spirit of tolerance and peaceful coexistence with adherents or other religions. “
He applauded the Niger State Government under the leadership of Abubakar Sani Bello for hosting, while charging security agencies for their maximum support for the success of the event.
