A 500 Level Mechanical Engineering student of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma who was due to graduate this year, has asked the High Court at Ekpoma to order the institution to reinstate him, following his suspension last year.
Mr Iyoha Ebhodaghe, through his lawyers, Festus Keyamo Egwarewa Esq. is also asking the court to declare his suspension as a student, ‎”unconstitutional, illegal and oppressive” as it violates his fundamental right to fair hearing”.
In addition, he wants the court to order the university to pay him N100 million damages ‎ as compensation, “for the mental and psychological trauma” he suffered for the humiliation meted out on him when he was harassed and bundled out of the hall where he was sitting for his final examinations in the university last year.
‎The student who is also seeking an order of the court restraining the respondents from further harassing him said he wants to return to class to write his final examinations and graduate as required by the law setting up the University.
