Eighth Assembly of Ondo State would be inaugurated at the State House of Assembly complex today June 1, by 10am .
The leadership of the House is also expected to emerge today.
Ahead of today inauguration, the House organised a two- day induction for lawmakers who will be part of the Eighth Assembly.
Declaring the workshop open, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon Jumoke Akindele admonished the lawmakers to be ready to serve as good ambassador of their people.
Akindele, who described the induction as very necessary, said the norm in any organization is to educate new entrants so that they could understand the workings of their new environment.
Her words, ‘’We are ambassadors of our people across the 26 constituencies of the state. This workshop will be participatory and conventional.
‘’The induction will allow us to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge that would enable us perform our roles in the parliament as expected.
The induction is also necessary to prepare us for the task ahead. As serving legislators, l can say the task ahead of us is enormous. Hence, it is important that we learn certain things before the Eighth Assembly is inaugurated.
The Speaker who call on the law makers to be ready to prioritise the needs of the people of their constituencies, described their constituency as their first love
‘’We should know that our first love is our different constituencies. We must do things that would deepen the democratic process, culture and values in the country.
It is important for us to ensure that the lives of our constituents is bettered. That is another important thing we are to do apart from the constitutional oversight functions of the parliament ,’’She observed
