All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate for Abia State, Chief Nyerere Anyim has hailed President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding victory to General Muhammadu Buhari.
This is as he congratulated Buhari on his victory, adding that the victory signalled change and progressive movement of the nation’s democracy.
Anyim in an interview with Nigerian Pilot said that the president’s attitude portrayed him as a true democrat and is a clear indication that no individual interest should override our collective interest.
“The president’s attitude confirms his statement that “no ambition should worth the blood of any Nigerian.”
Anyim therefore appealed to Jonathan to ensure that the transition is completed smoothly, as
he urged Abians to vote massively for APC in the April 11 governorship election.
“Abians should jettison partisan interest and vote in an APC governor. This will ensure that the state is connected to mainstream politics.
“The infrastructural decay in Abia, especially Aba, requires that the state connects to national political grid to attract federal government’s intervention.”
He urged Abians to join hands together, despite political and social differences, to ensure that the state changed for better.
Anyim also called on Nigerians from all walks of life to support General Buhari to move the country forward.
“Nigeria is our country; we have no other country so we owe obligation to build it,” he said.
He thanked the chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof.
Attahiru Jega, for his efforts in establishing a legacy that would ensure an electoral process where the true wishes of Nigerians would be reflected in the choice of their leaders.
