Gaduwa, located south east of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, some four kilometers from the city centre, is a second generation district. It lacks the coziness of Maitama or Asokoro, the abode of the rich and powerful.
Nevertheless, this mixed development zone is attracting sprawling buildings including hotels, shopping malls and corporate showrooms. The newest candidate is baptized IL Bagno – Italian phrase for the bathroom. Indeed, the edifice, a grayish masterpiece of Italian architecture erected on five floors, parades much more than bathroom affairs. A doyen of Nigerian architecture, Architect Mohammed Faworaja describes the concept as unique, stylistic and bold.
Recently, IL Bagno opened its doors to the crème of architects and consultants in the construction industry as a sideline to the annual Archi-built Exhibition and Conference, the brainchild of the Nigerian Institute of Architects held in Abuja.
Promoted by Black Pelican Ltd, the concept is to provide nonpareil modern luxury home fittings with innovative and alluring settings that doesn’t only look appealing to the eyes but also render a pacifying atmosphere that emulates the personality and taste of a client.
The IL Bagno showroom showcases the latest evolution of domestic home fittings ranging from bathroom suites and accessories, kitchen cabinets and appliances, lightings and electrical, wall and floor overings, doors, furniture, tiles and marbles, beddings; offering supreme comfort, wellness and designs in unique style.
Architect Muyiwa Ige describes the place as a one-stop-shop for “classy finishing”. He believes that planning bathroom interiors is equally important as any other part of the house “because the bathroom is the most suitable place to spend some private moments, gain relaxation, pamper yourself, freshen up after a tiring day and much more.”
Much more, IL Bagno offers sanitary wares such as bath tubs and shower trays, shower fittings, bathroom accessories, wash-hand sink, walk-in shower enclosure, bathroom furniture, sanitary ceramics, plumbing technology- all from leading brands in the world that doesn’t only transform the bathroom from its former role as an ordinary shower place but to a more refined sanctuary.
Ms Folake Akinbo-Suleiman, head of retail, promises to satisfy all kinds of customers. “Our siematic kitchen remodeling designs fitted with Miele appliances and smart home technology are designed to add style and function to the heart of your home, giving you that feeling of luxury that helps you relax in the right frame of mind whilst washing, cooking, engaging in office work or spending quality time with family members,” she explains.
