Following the removal of Mr. Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi as the Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Barrister Calistus Nwabueze Obi has been appointed as the Acting Director General of the Agency.
In a statement by the Deputy Director/Head of Public Relations of NIMASA, Mr. Isichei Osamgbi, Mr. Obi took over from Akpobolokemi in accordance with the directive by the federal government.
The Acting DG who was until his appointment the Executive Director, Maritime Labour and Cabotage Services in the Agency, brings over two decades of experience in the public sector, law practice and the maritime industry to this new responsibility.
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday terminated the appointment of Mr. Akpobolokemi as Director-General of the Agency with immediate effect.
Barrister Calistus Nwabueze Obi who has since taken over as the Acting Director General/Chief Executive was born on May 1, 1964.
Obi who hails from Ihiala local government area of Anambra State studied Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991 after completing the mandatory studies at the Nigerian Law School.
He also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
