Newly inaugurated acting chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Ibrahim Bilal has distanced himself from any faction in the state, noting that the party remained one and indivisible and was not factionalised.
Bilal, who made the statement during his address to APC stakeholders at the state secretariat of the party in Yola yesterday, reiterated that he was nobody’s boy in the party and that his loyalty rests with the party and not individuals.
He called on all party faithful to ensure working for the unity of the party in the state, promising to accord Governor Muhammadu Jibrilla all the support he needed to succeed, noting that the success of the government was the success of the party.
He also called on the legislative arm to support the government, noting that within the period he would superintend over the party, he would ensure that the tempo of understanding between the two arms of government was sustained.
Bilal added that he and some others inaugurated by the national secretariat of the party were appointed to fill vacant positions in the state exco, noting that other officials of the party who did not vacate their offices would still retain their offices.
He called on all other party officials to cooperate with him to turn around the fortunes of the party, assuring them that he did not come to witch hunt anyone.
The acting chairman stressed his resolve to maintain the spirit of equity, justice and transparency during his stint in office, promising to conduct a free and fair election to usher in a new state exco in line with the party’s constitution.
