Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission, ADSIEC, has announced the rescheduling of the local government election from June 25-30 to July 2.
Announcing the shifting of the election timetable, Information Officer of the commission, Mallam Danladi Mahmood, while speaking with journalists in Yola, said the decision was unanimously agreed upon by ADSIEC and nine participating political parties due to some teething constraints.
Mahmood added that electoral materials are yet to be printed by the contracting firm and that nomination forms distributed to political parties for participation have not been returned.
He also stated that the leadership squabble rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state is another challenge, as the commission is yet to come to terms with which faction to deal with officially.
He added that the commission has sent its official to INEC headquarters Abuja for guidance in the PDP’s leadership tussle.
