Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla. Bindow of Adamawa , including his cabinet members and other top government functionaries spent the Eid- el-Kabir sallah celebrations with the Internally Displaced Person (IDPs) at the Malkohi camp. The celebrations ceremony with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) was part of the governor’s concern for the displaced persons following the over four years of insurgency activities in the North-East sub-region especially in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states. The celebrations at the camp which is the first of its kind to be undertaken by any Chief Executive of the three state since the beginning of the insurgency was aimed at giving the displaced persons utmost sense of belongings. The Governor while addressing the victims of the insurgence urged them to regard the plight as the will of Almighty God and called on the people of the state to support their course. Jibrilla observed that if not for the efforts of the present administrations or president Mohammadu Buhari, nobody in the region would have celebrated this year’s sallah with his two eyes closed for fear of being attacked by the insurgents. Bindow Jibrilla appealed to well meaning individuals, NGOs and cooperate organizations to continue to rally round government in its efforts to make life more meaningful to the IDPs. Responding on behalf of the IDPs Mr. Dominic Samuel lauded the gesture of the
governor. ‘’This is the first time a Governor and his entire cabinet would come to identify with us during festive period of this nature’’. Samuel urged other leaders to emulate Governor Bindow, he commended the efforts of the state Government for the restoration of peace in the state. Highlights of the celebrations was distributions of food and gifts.
