The All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun State has described the appointment of Mrs Kemi Adeosun as Finance Minister as an appreciation of her remarkable achievements as a commissioner in Ogun State.
This is coming as an Ogun State based Non-Governmental Organisation, ‘The Rebuilders’ has also congratulated the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for Adeosun’s appointment.
The Publicity Secretary of APC in Ogun State, Mr Sola Lawal while reacting to the appointment said the portfolio given to her by President Muhammadu Buhari was an assurance that her performance in Ogun State was noticed.
He said, “the appointment and the portfolio given to her is an assurance and indeed that the ‘Mission to Rebuild Ogun State’ we have been doing in the last four years has been noticed, not only noticed in the outside world, it has been appreciated.
“Because of course, this woman was in charge of financing of Ogun State in the first four years of Governor Amosun and that she performed creditably well has been noticed by the federal government.
“The appointment she got and the portfolio assigned to her is an indication and attestation to the ‘Mission to Rebuild Ogun State’ in the last four years has been remarkable, has been appreciated.
Secretary of ‘The Rebuilders’, Comrade Lamide Lawal who also spoke with our correspondent said Adeosun’s appointment was a manifestation of values placed on competence and professionalism by Governor Amosun.
The group said that it had no doubt that Mrs Adeosun would bring her wealth of experience to bear at turning the finances of the country around in a way that would pave way for the actulisation of the ‘change’ agenda of the federal government.
Lawal said, “When she came to Ogun State, the IGR of the state was less than N1bn but after four years, the state can now boast of average of over N4bn while it reached N6bn at a particular time.
“Her ingenuity in the Home Owners Charter programme of the state government was never unnoticed. While she was busy making money for government through the programme, indigenes of the state were also benefiting tremendously at getting their title documents through a ‘crazy’ rebate introduced to make things easy for the people of the state.
“We have no doubt that she’s a thoroughbred, a professional to the core, a woman of honour who knows her onions and a mother per excellence, we are sure that all her experiences both in private and public sectors spanning over 20 years would be felt by the economy of the nation in no distant time.”
