Present of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Amaju Pinnick disclosed yesterday that Egypt Air will lift the Super Eagles to Alexandra, Egypt for their second leg fixtures of the AFCON 2017 qualifier against the Pharaohs scheduled for March 29.
The first leg of the double header clash would be played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium. Kaduna on March 25.
Pinnick said the minister of sports and head coach of the senior national team have given go ahead for the team to travel to Alexandra with Egypt Air rather than on a chartered flight in a bid to save cost.
NFF President said THE Federation will save between N35 to N40 million which would be enough to pay the payers match bonuses.
‘’We have a lot of engagement and it is tough on the Federation. You can imagine we have the Super Eagles, Falcons, Under 20 and U17 male and female, the Dream Team among others being prepared for different continental and world cup competitions at the same time and where is the money? So we need to cut cost hence we decided that the Super Eagles travel to Alexandra with Egypt Air rather than on a chartered flight. The coach has agreed to the travelling plan.’’
Pinnick hinted that Eagles will travel to Alexandra immediately after the match in Kaduna on Match 25 even as he said that they are being motivated with the players response and determination to honour the match and ensure the beat Egypt and qualify for Gabon 2017.
Besides, Pinnick said all the players that have called him on their readiness for the double header qualifier have played down on the issue of bonuses owed them.
