Team Nigeria claimed second position as the curtain came down on the 11th All African Games in Congo Brazzaville on Saturday.
Egypt emerged overall best at the games having clinched a total of 217 medals- 85 gold, 64 silver and 68 bronze medals.
As at Friday night, Team Nigeria had garnered 47 gold medals to secure a comfortable second position, displacing South Africa.
The winner of the 2011 edition, South Africa came third with a total of 122 medals- 41 gold, 41 silver and 40 bronze medals.
The closing ceremony held at Sports Complex at Kintele, was almost marred by heavy rain.
It was however, a befitting closing as school children entertained the crowd with calisthenics displays while traditional dancers also performed to the admiration of all.
It was excitement galore at the Games Village and all the hotels where Nigerian officials and journalists were lodged.
The last batch of Nigeria’s contingent was expected in Abuja from Brazzaville last night.
