No fewer than 7 persons were reportedly killed yesterday in Tombo, Buruku Local Government Area of Benue State during a clash between Fulani herdsmen and farmers.
The state police spokesman, ASP Moses Yamu who confirmed this on the phone yesterday said the ugly incident occurred at about 3pm.
According to an eye witness who pleaded anonymity, the incident is as a result of disagreement between the herdsmen and farmers which escalated into a bloody clash.
The source also said several properties have been destroyed while many people have fled the area,
Yamu disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Paul Yakadi has led a team to the area to ascertain the cause of the renewed clash and the level of destruction.
This is the second attack on Buruku local government area in recent times by herdsmen who have also, invaded Logo and Agatu leading to the displacement of thousand of persons.
