Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has donated food items and clothes to Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, at NYSC camp in Damare, Adamawa state.
Leader of the foundation team, Barnabas Omali, while presenting the items to the IDPs said the gesture was in line with his organisation’s resolve to come to the aid of displaced persons where ever they may be in Nigeria.
He commiserated with the government and people of the state over the Boko Haram insurgency, which has brought untold hardship to the people. “We are here to identify with Adamawa state government and we express sympathy for the IDP’s”.
He urged the displaced persons to make judicious use of the items donated by the group.
In his response, Executive Secretary Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, ADSEMA, Haruna Furo promised the group judicious use of the items adding that they will share it according to the population of the IDP’s.
He noted that following successes being recorded by troops in routing Boko Haram insurgents, population of the camp has reduced from 7,000 to 3,000 people.
Furo added that he is ready to give account of how he distributed the relief materials any time the donors wish to enquire about transparency of the process.
