Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Public Petition has cleared the 20 commissioner-nominees and two special advisers for appointment into the State Executive Council.
Chairman of the committee, Oniofok Luke disclosed this at plenary yesterday, when he presented the committee’s report to the House for confirmation.
Luke said that the nominees met the constitutional requirements for appointment as commissioners as outlined in section 192(4) and 106 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
The committee chairman said that although they received petitions against some of the nominees, the committee arrived at the conclusion that the petitions lacked merit as issues raised were frivolous.
According to him, those cleared include Godwin Ntukudeh, Akan Okon, Aniekan Akpan, Monday Ebong Uko, Emmanuel Ibiok, Emmanuel Enoidem, Enobong Uwah, Ekong Sampson, Uwem Ita Etuk, Ephraim Inyang, Etido Inyang and Aniekan Umana.
