Wife of the president, Hajiya Aisha Buhari yesterday called on the Nigeria Army to hasten payment of entitlements to families of fallen heroes and soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents in the North-East.
Hajiya Buhari made the call when she visited the 44 Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, where soldiers who sustained various degrees of injuries from activities of the insurgents are receiving treatments.
The president’s wife in company of the president of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association, NAOWA, who is the wife of the Chief of Army Staff, Umma Kalsum Buratai and wives of other top military officers, visited all the wards where the wounded soldiers were admitted, encouraged and prayed God for their speedy recovery.
She commended the wounded soldiers for their bravery and doggedness to maintain law and order in the troubled North-East and other troubled parts of the country.
She assured them that their efforts would not go unrewarded now or in the future.
“I want to urge the Nigerian Army to hasten in paying the benefits of the deceased soldiers as a way of providing succcur to their families.”
She observed that from what she saw after visiting the various wards where the wounded soldiers are on admission, they were being well taken care of by the government, which she said was quite commendable.
No journalists were allowed into the wards where the wounded soldiers were receiving treatment, so it could not be ascertained their health condition and how many of the wounded soldiers were on admission.
