Nigeria international
Akeem Latifu has thrown
his weight behind the
Sunday Oliseh-led Super
Eagles to beat Tanzania
convincingly in a 2017
AFCON qualifier in Dar
es Salaam on September 5.
The Aalesund of
Norway right back, who
was not considered for
selection for the clash
in Dar es Salaam, told
AfricanFootball.com that
the players called up
for the game will do the
business.
“I would have loved to
be part of the game, but I
am not. But the team will
certainly beat Tanzania,
we have a good team
and the players called up
are good enough to beat
Tanzania,” said Latifu.
“The coach has played
at the highest level and
now Nigerians should
support him as he plans
to take the team to greater
height.”
Latifu, who has
featured for the Flying
Eagles, has won two
caps for the Super Eagles
and said he hopes he
will soon be back in the
international setup.
“The coach cannot call
all of us for a game, but I
believe I will get chance
to play under him in
subsequent games,” he
said.
