The Speaker, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Mr Aniekan Uko, on Thursday urged the State Police Command to ensure total elimination of kidnappers and all forms of criminals in the state.
Uko made the plea in Uyo when the State Commissioner of Police, Mr Murtala Mani, paid him a courtesy call.
He expressed concern about the sudden re-emergence of kidnapping activities in some parts of the state.
The speaker advised the commissioner to mobilise officers and men of his command to comb all nooks and crannies to rid the state of criminal activities.
He said that the sixth assembly would cooperate with the police commissioner to ensure effective policing of the state.
Uko said there must be peace and stability for socio-economic development and for the industrial policy of the present administration to thrive.
He promised to support the command with N400, 000 toward the completion of work on the car park at the State Police headquarters.
Earlier, the commissioner of police said he was impressed with the cooperation existing between the executive and the legislature.
He said the command would not relent in its effort to rid the state of criminals.
