Unveiling the new players
Wednesday in Uyo club
chairman, Mr Paul Bassey said
the new players were recruited
in order to strengthen the
team after it was weakened by
injuries and players going for
green pastures abroad.
Bassey expressed joy that the
team was able to bounce back
after a poor start to the league
and assured that technical and
administrative deficiencies
observed during the first round
would be corrected.
“We have done remarkably
well by finishing on the fifth
position after we languished
between 19th and 20th in the
first five weeks of the league. We
are hopeful of doing better in the
second stanza of the league and
the only way we can reward our
supporters and financiers is by
getting a continental ticket.
“We have one thing in mind,
if we cant finish first we finish
second and we can’t finish
second we finish first.” The
chairman said.
He expressed hope that with
fewer long trips to be made by
the team in the second stanza,
the team would be strengthened
enough to finish on the high.
The promise Keepers would
get their second round underway
with an feisty away tie to MFM
in Lagos this weekend.
