Sole Administrator of Akwanga local government area in Nasarawa State, Kwanta Yakubu, said yesterday that the council will introduce a new revenue regime devoid of witch hunt in order to improve on the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR of the council.
Yakubu, who made the pledge when he took over from the out gone chairman of the council, Abashiya Koto at the council’s secretariat in Akwanga, said his administration will explore more positive ways of improving the revenue generation of the area to make up whatever is received from the dwindling state allocation from the federation account.
“I am coming from a revenue background and I will do my best to block all forms of leakages and I will introduce new revenue regime that will not witch hunt anybody so that the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) will improve in order to add values to my people.
“I will imbibe the principle of financial discipline, probity, accountability and transparency in all actions as well as well as to key in to projects that will have direct bearing on the lives of my people and Nigerians,” he said.
He solicited for their support and cooperation to enable him succeed in the task ahead; adding that respect for constituted authorities would engender peaceful co-existence of all irrespective of their ethnic, religious and political affiliations.
The out gone chairman said his administration sunk 23 boreholes, distributed four transformers, constructed roads, culverts and bridges, including the distribution of drugs to clinics, among other achievements.
He urged the staff of the council and people of the area to give the newly sole Administrator the much needed support and cooperation to enable him succeed in delivering the much need dividend of democracy to them.
