NASARAWA State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura yesterday offered to stand as a guarantor for Small and Medium Scale Entrepreneurs, SMEs, and individuals willing to obtain such loans to assist in fast-tracking economic growth in the state.
The governor made the declaration at a parley with representatives of commercial banks in the state, preparatory to the introduction of Treasury Single Account, TSA, for business consumptions.
Al-Makura said his administration will work to ensure that the target beneficiaries are into small scale business enterprises that will boost the economy of the state and increase revenue and improve the leaving standard of the people of the state.
He explained that government will not disengage any worker but will work assiduously to fish out ghost workers and check leakages that have drained the state of millions of tax payer’s money.
Al-Makura promised the banks good working environment and urged them to assist government in diversification of the economy due to the present economic realities.
Speaking on behalf of the banks, Babatunde Oladipo, manager Keystone bank, promised that the bank will assist the state government in bringing sanity to the system while urging the state to help in the provision of electricity and remove unwanted tax.
