PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari yesterday forwarded a fresh list of 46 non-career Ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation as Ambassadors even as Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Senator Philip Aduda protests non inclusion of Abuja indigenes.
Aduda has raised a Point of Order challenging President Muhammadu Buhari for not nominating a native of FCT as non-career Ambassador in the list of forty six non-career ambassadors sent to the Senate on Thursday. Senator Aduda had referred the Senate to Section 299 of the 1999 Constitution that states that FCT shall be treated as if it is one of the states in Nigeria and that the President is the Governor of the Territory with the executive ministers of the federation serving as commissioners of the FCT, while the National Assembly shall serve as the state House of Assembly for FCT.

The nominees are a retired Justice of the Supreme Court, George Oguntade (Lagos); a former top notch of the Buhari Campaign Organisation, Senator Mamora Olorunnimbe Majors (Lagos); Yusuf Tuggar (Bauchi); a former deputy governor of Plateau State, Mrs. Paulen Tallen (Plateau); a former member of the House Representatives, Hon. Usman Bugaje (Katsina); and the immediate past deputy governor of Niger State, Ahmed Ibeto (Niger), whose nomination as a Minister was withdrawn by Buhari in 2015. The list also includes a former director-general of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru, Jos, Prof. Tijani Bande (Kebbi); Dr. (Mrs) Uzoma E. Emenike (Abia); Dr. Clifford Zirra (Adamawa); retired Maj. Gen. Godwin Umo ( Akwa Ibom); Christopher J.N. Okeke (Anambra); Brig Gen.
