Daughter of the Governor of Ogun State, Miss Akorede Amosun, donated medical items to a Primary Health Centre in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
The medical items, which were humanitarian gifts from ’NOT JUST TOURISTS’, a non-governmental organisation based in Toronto, were meant to boost healthcare delivery in the state.
While presenting the medical supplies, Miss Amosun noted that the donation was made in recognition of her voluntary services with the NGO.
Items donated included bandages, gauze, tapes, antiseptics, alcohol swabs, saline flushes, IV kits in sterile packaging, wound-care kits, examination gloves, scalpels, disposable needles, syringes, urinary supplies, masks or respiratory supplies amongst others.
She explained that the NGO is a volunteer-based group that collects surplus medical supplies from healthcare professionals and institutions and send them through travellers to small medical missions in need around the world.
She added that the donation was part of her voluntary and humanitarian aid to improve quality healthcare in the state.
Dr. Abiodun Sorunke, who received the medical items on behalf of the health centre, appreciated Miss Amosun for facilitating the medical supplies to boost primary healthcare delivery in the state, saying primary healthcare centres offer first care medical aid to the people.
He added that the donation was significant, as the supplies would go a long way in supporting their patients.
