Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Peter Umeadi, yesterday charged the 20 newly appointed magistrates to justify the gesture exhibited by the state government towards their welfare by working hard and discharging their duties to the citizenry for betterment of Anambra state.
Justice Umeadi gave the charge during the formal presentation of 22 new Ford Focus brand of cars to all the newly appointed magistrates and Deputy Chief Registrar, as well as the Retired Director at the Judiciary headquarters in Awka, maintaining that the cars were meant to enhance performance of their judicial duties.
He also cautioned that the vehicles be used judiciously, just as he thanked Governor Willie Obiano for approving financial autonomy for the Anambra State Judiciary.
The CJ directed the magistrates to proceed and collect their cars, but quickly advised that they maintain and keep them for proper use in the service of the public as well as facilitate activities of the State Judiciary system.
To the newly sworn-in officers, Justice Umeadi said, “You should brace up for serious work, use the cars effectively, ensure that you come to work Monday to Friday for the prosperity and good of Anambra State. Remember that you owe the state and Anambra people much”.
Responding, the Chief Registrar of Anambra State High Court, Doris Ezeani, Esq., commended the Chief Judge for his overwhelming interest in staff welfare and in the transformation of the state judiciary. She added that the CJ also provided in record time, the funds for the procurement of the brand new vehicles to the Deputy Chief Registrar, Magistrates and Retired Director.
Some of the beneficiaries who took away their saloon cars yesterday were Arinze Ijeoma Juliet, Kanu Onyeka Moses, Ezebilo -Nnedu Obiamaka, Ijeoma Igbokwe, Nwakamma Chika P,Esq and Chigbo Chizoba Catherine, Esq.
Others are Maduakor N.G.C, Ani-Nnaka Loveth Nwadi, Ezeudeka Stella, Onyekwuru Gladys O.Moneke, Nduka Victory Chidimma and Eke Peter Nnamdi, among others.
Ezeani further pledged for their unflinching support for the Governor, as she promised that they would continue to do their best to serve the people of Anambra State in the areas of dispensation of justice and assisting the Governor to move the state forward.
