Nasarawa State Chairman of Islamic group, Izalatul Bidiya Wa Iqmatis Sunnah, JIBWIS, Ustaz Shuaibu Ismail, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s renewed fight against corruption would make politicians focus on rendering service to the people.
Ismail said this in an interview with NAN yesterday in Lafia.
“We strongly appreciate the role President Buhari is playing to tackle corruption in the country.
“Given the current effort, both elected and appointed leaders in the country will know that they are not in office to service their pocket and immediate family, but to serve the people diligently, with the fear of God,” he said.
He said the anti-graft policy of the present administration would create enabling environment for the attraction of foreign investors, thereby facilitating the rapid development of the country.
“We all know that the international community had always looked down on Nigeria and the African continent for our inability to fight corruption.
“If Nigeria can effectively tackle corruption, other countries in the continent will follow suit,” he said.
He enjoined elected and appointed public officials to imbibe the virtue of selfless service and not to amass wealth to the detriment of the masses.
