Deputy governor of Taraba State, Haruna Manu, whose company carried out biometrics exercise on civil servants in the state, is being paid N16.9 million monthly, the All Progressives Congress, APC, chairman in Taraba state, Alhaji Ardo Jika has said.
Speaking on ‘phone’ from Abuja the APC chairman alleged that the PDP government in the state awarded the contract to Haruna Manu long before he became the deputy governor to enable them divert state fund to prosecute the 2015 governorship campaign in the state.
Ardo, who described huge amount being paid to Manu on the exercise as ‘laughable’ also said “today the governor is again doing staff verification. If he is probing staff leakages, he should also probe his deputy whose company carried out staff biometrics in the state and is being paid millions monthly”.
“He should again probe his SSG, Anthony Jellason, his Chief of Staff, Rebo Usman, who were indicted in the N400 million flood disaster funds in 2012,” adding that everybody in Taraba was aware that they were indicted by the State House of Assembly.
“It is surprising that people who were indicted and have not exonerated themselves are now in his kitchen cabinet. He is only victimising people employed by Garba Umar in the name of staff verification.”
Ardo wondered why the governor used 100 days in office to sack people employed by Garba Umar and reversed transfer of service of staff of local government to state carried out by his predecessor Sani Danladi, when the state is grossly lacking manpower.
The APC Chairman argued that there was nothing to celebrate after 100 days in office of governor Ishaku as he only used past governments achievements in the state.
He emphasised that “Ishaku has not initiated any small project and complete same, how can he possibly commission projects when he has not initiated one. He simply commissioned others peoples project and is claiming credit.
But a close associate to the deputy governor debunked the allegations levelled against him by the APC in the state as according to him there were no elements of truth in the allegations.
“Ardo should look for better and reliable sources to get information or even come to government house as an indigene to get details of whatever he wants other than telling lies”, he stressed.
He argued that governor Ishaku has achieved a lot in the area of peace and security as well as the provision of water in Jalingo among others.
