A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Delta State, Chief Sunny Onuesoke has said the All Progressive Congress APC, cannot take over South-South states from the PDP, despite the present annulment by the election tribunal affecting the governors and their lawmakers in the region.
Onuesoke who was at the PDP secretariat in Port Harcourt on a solidarity said “ if rerun election is held fifty times in the South-South states where both the governorship and members of house of assembly elections were annulled by the election tribunal PDP will still emerge victorious.”
He noted that PDP will still reclaim its mandate in Rivers and Akwa Ibom states where the governorship and house of Assembly elections were annulled by the tribunal.
Onuesoke argued that APC agenda to take over PDP states in South-South region will fail because the South-South region is made of people with democratic idea and not republican.
“APC cannot take the South-South states by force because they are in control at the national level”.
He advised the ruling party to allow the constitution of this country to determine the faith of the people of South-South states, adding that attempt for APC to force itself on the people would be futile hence, the people know no other party than PDP.
The PDP Chieftain recalled that since the emergence of political dispensation in 1989, PDP had been winning the South-South states with large margin, adding that no tricks whatsoever would make the electorate vote for another party.
“Why will the electorates vote for another when they are experiencing the abundant achievements of PDP governance in their various states and constituencies.
“In the South-South states under PDP they are benefitting free education, scholarship to higher institutions, increment in bursary allowances, free medical facilities, provision of employments, construction of infrastructures and maintenance of existing ones and other social benefits,” he stated.
