Alhaji Nma Kolo, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Niger state and political commentator has condemned the occupation of the Niger State House of Assembly by the police.
Kolo said in a press statement in Minna that the method of using police to stop legislatures and the legislative staff from doing their work is a clear indication of impunity.
He stated that the Nigeria police and specifically the state police command Commissioner should not allow himself to be used to achieve political gains.
The grassroots politician noted that the way the assembly is occupied by the police is being turned to a police state and he accused the police of being used by some vested interests.
“It is unfortunate that impunity should be the order of the day in Niger state at a time the nation is in the threshold of change from reckless use of power to more people oriented approach,” he stated.
The APC chieftain said the police should have known by now that no matter how people’s wishes are suppressed their wishes shall prevail at the end of the day.
He therefore said, “I will want to use this opportunity to appeal to the Commissioner of Police Mr Emmanuel Amorie to stop this impunity because recent events have shown that there is always a day of reckoning”.
