Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Abia State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Okwuonu has appealed to critics of Buhari’s administration to exercise little patience.
Okwuonu told Nigerian Pilot in Aba that the president should be allowed some time.
“ President Muhammadu Buhari needs some time to settle down. It is too early to criticise his government. These changes should come in the next two years. He (Buhari) should be given time for his policies and programmes to mature before they are translated into the desired changes,” Okwuonu said.
He further explained that to reduce corruption to its barest minimum in the country, political offices should be made less lucrative.
“We need to make political offices less lucrative if we are to reduce corruption to its barest minimum. People do everything in their desperation to get into political offices.
“Let the people who have the passion and who have something to offer get into politics,” Okwuonu stated.
Okwuonu is of the opinion that he despite the current challenges facing APC that the party would come up strong, adding that the leadership of the National Assembly should be embraced.
“A lot of people have to collapse their individual interest; that is the only way we can make it,” he said.
