SPEAKER of the House of Representatives,
Yakubu Dogara, and not less than five
governors are expected in Owerri, the Imo
State Capital, today to attend the historic
presentation of account of stewardship
by commissioners and special advisers to
Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Also expected at the ceremony are political
leaders within and outside the state, with
invitation letters already sent out to those
concerned.
The account of stewardship exercise by
this category of appointees is part of events
slated for the 40th anniversary programme
of the creation of Imo State in 1976.
The governor had earlier announced
that activities for the anniversary would
be spread throughout the year, even as he
intends to use it to showcase his landmark
achievements in the last five years. According to a statement issued yesterday by
the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sam
Onwuemeodo, the event slated for 6pm would
hold at the Imo International Convention
Centre, IICC, Owerri.
“The panel of judges would equally name
the best performing commissioner or adviser,
and of course the second and third positions
and they would be rewarded accordingly.
The programme would also be shown live on
NTA and Channel Television. It is going to be
an interesting function and the first of its kind
in the state for serving commissioners and
advisers to publicly give account of what they
have been able to achieve in their respective
ministries or portfolios for people to assess
them,” the CPS said.
He advised the general public, especially
Imo people to grace the historic occasion,
pointing out that a panel of judges will assess
commissioners and advisers in the ‘Rescue
Mission’ administration.
