Election petition tribunal in Ekiti State has received six petitions from the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the March 28 and April 11 Federal and State Houses of Assembly elections.
Investigations conducted showed that no petition was filed for the Governorship poll, as no election was held in the state for the governorship position during the general elections.
The lawyer of the party, Mr. Ibrahim Olanrewaju, confirmed to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, that two petitions were filed for the Senatorial poll and a total of four were filed for the State House of Assembly election.
According to Olanrewaju, the petition for the senatorial election was filed by the APC candidates in Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Amb Gbenga Olofin and the incumbent Senator representing Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Tony Adeniyi.
He said the duo was contesting the declaration of Mrs. Fatimat Raji-Rasaki and Mrs. Biodun Olujimi by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ekiti Central and South senatorial districts respectively.
Olanrewaju noted that the party, in conjunction with their candidates, is also challenging the victories recorded by the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ado I, Ise Orun, Ekiti South West I and Oye I State constituencies in the election.
He said the petitions have been submitted to the tribunal secretariat located within the premises of the Ekiti State High Court in Ado- Ekiti.
