Arising from a two-day meeting held in Abuja, states chairmen of the All Progressives Congress, APC, under the aegis of APC Chairmen Forum, have charged the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun and the National Working Committee, NWC of the party, to do all within their powers to check growing insubordination in the party.
The chairmen’s position came on the heels of the lingering National Assembly leadership tussle that saw both the senate president, Sen. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara defy party directives to emerge as leaders.
In the communique signed by the acting Chairman of the APC chairmen Forum, Umar Haruna Moh’d, the forum said, “As state chairmen and direct grassroots leaders we are all concerned about the developments in our party, therefore we re-affirmed our belief and loyalty to our party’s supremacy as contained in the party’s constitution and the decision of its leadership.
“We are also not happy with recent development in the National Assembly especially the lower chamber and call on the party leadership to put in place proper machineries to checkmate further occurrences.
“We also call the party leaders to use the long break with a view to resolving the matter so that the much needed change will be seen and enjoyed by everybody.”
However, an inside source at the meeting stated that 25 members of the APC state chairmen attended the meeting which was held in a hotel in zone 6, Abuja.
According to him, those who did not attend the meeting got permission for one reason or another.
