The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Zamfara State chapter has rejected the result of Zamfara governorship and state House of Assembly elections conducted on April 11 that declared the candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC as winners.
Declaring his stand on the result, the party’s governorship candidate Alhaji Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi said he did not lose the governorship election to Governor Abdulaziz Yari of APC, and accused INEC and security agencies of colluding with the APC to disrupt the electoral process and allocated votes in all the polling units, wards, local governments and state’s collation centers during the elections across the state.
He accused INEC ad hoc staff of playing the role of APC agents who helped in manipulating the voting process in favour of APC candidates during the elections.
He further accused Governor Yari of deploying Government House security personnel and thugs to make sure the places or any polling unit or local government where APC was losing were being disrupted through launching attacks on polling unit, collation centres, by intimidating all the APGA agents.
He said APGAand his office had sent a petition to all appropriate security agencies a day before the commencement of the election, raising alarm on the desperate rigging attempt, by APC, office of the State Governor and some INEC officials across the state, but expressed worry on why no action was taken.
“We all noticed that during the elections, all APGA agents at collation centres, wards, local governments were denied entry into collation centers by thugs, police, vigilant groups in collusion with APC and INEC ad hoc staff. We also knew that, all APGA agents of many polling units had run away leaving their place of duty because APC thugs in collaboration with police attached to Government House Gusau chased them out of their respective polling units just to disrupt and rig the election in favour of APC candidate Abdulazeez Yari,” he said.
He described the April 11 elections as electoral coup perpetrated by INEC, police and APC in Zamfara State.
He further stated that, APGA in the state has condemned and formally rejected in totality the outcome of the electoral military coup in Zamfara state, saying after full consultation with stakeholders at all levels, they will soon come up with a definite path for justice, liberty and peace to reign for the good people of Zamfara state by taking the matter to election tribunal even up to Supreme Court.
He commended the entire people of Zamfara State, members and supporters of APGA for the unflinching support given to him during his 2015 race, calling on them to maintain the tempo.
