A Non Governmental Organisation known as Arewa Youth Foundation has commended the initiatives introduced by the Executive Secretary of TETFUND aimed at improving the standard of education in the country, especially by executing different projects in various institutions across the state.
This was contained in a press conference held yesterday by the forum in Bauchi led by the foundation’s chairman and secretary, Auwal Gambo Pali and Engr. Emmanuel Isheni respectively where they observed that there has been gradual shift in improved education development in the areas of infrastructure, learning materials provision and proper coordination of resources to educational institutions in the country since the appointment of Professor Suleiman Bogoro as TETFUND Executive Secretary a year ago.
Comrade Auwal Pali recalled that TETFUND under Bogoro consolidated interventions in about 77 Universities, 54 Polytechnics and 65 Colleges of Education in the country within one year of Bogoro’s tenure, saying that there has been funds accessibility to deserving tertiary educational institutions unlike in the past when bureaucracy was the major setback that marred this aim.
He pointed out that TETFUND under Bogoro has in less than a year introduced e-library system to provide information through ICT and bring education to the door-steps of Nigerians, describing the appointment of Professor Suleiman Bogoro as a good omen for Nigerians as more students and lecturers now enjoy more national and international scholarships, while efforts are being made to attract international donors towards the growth and development of the education sector.
Pali also recalled that under Bogoro, the hitherto myriads of challenges bedeviling the education sector has been reduced to the barest minimum thus stimulating excellence in the sector, as training and retraining have vigorously been embarked upon to boost education in the country.
“It is our decision to applaud Bogoro, followed the Nigerian students demand before President Buhari to kindly maintain status quo in the management of TETFUND to enable more students benefit from his wealth of experience. Honestly, those behind media campaigns of calumny against the Professor have the intention of robbing Nigerian students of the rare privilege for improved and excellent education”, Pali stated.
The chairman then challenged those agitating against the office of TETFUND Executive Secretary and their desperation to ridicule Professor Suleiman Bogoro through religious and ethnic discrimination to beware of their antics.
