final list of 21 players for the FIFA
Under-20 World Cup in New
The ‘La Celeste’, who will be
facing Ghana, Austria and Panama
in the group stages, have a squad
that is dominated by players from
River Plate. Striker Giovanni, son
of Atletico Madrid coach Diego
Simeone, leads the list of five players
from River.
Grondona’s final squad also has
four players from the European
leagues – Tiago Casasola (Fulham),
Maximiliano Rolón (Barcelona
– Spain), Ángel Correa (Atlético
Madrid) and Emiliano Buendía
Argentina are scheduled to move
camp from their homeland to Tahiti
for a one-week period (from May 18-
25), where they will play a double
friendly against their hosts before
leaving for New Zealand, five days
ahead of their World Cup opener
against Panama in Wellington
