OFFICERS attached to 33 Artillery Brigade, Bauchi, killed four suspected armed robbers and arrested 10 persons alleged to be serial kidnappers during their ongoing operation ‘FOREST KUNAMA’ launched in notorious forests across the state. This was disclosed by the Assistant Director, Public Relations of the Brigade, Major Joseph Afolashade, while briefing journalists on the development at ‘Shadawanka’ army barracks, Bauchi, at the weekend. He said the special operation was directed by the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai, aimed at flushing out all criminals taking refuge in thick forests and other hiding places. He said the brigade has mobilised adequate troops for the exercise and equipped them wit sufficient weapons and vehicles so that they can penetrate all nooks and crannies to arrest miscreants. This has resulted in the killing of four bandits at ‘Burra’ forest in ‘Ningi’ Local Government and the recovery of over 100 stolen cows which have been handed over to the owners through the village head. Afolashade stated that his men had also apprehended three suspected armed robbers namely Mohammed Idris, Musa Bature and Ibrahim Adamu at ‘Rimin while seven other suspected kidnappers were identified as Muhammadu Idris, Dayyabu Abdullahi and Nasiru Adamu all in Toro Local Government. The army spokesman revealed that the remaining four suspects (names withheld) were captured along ‘Dogon Ruwa’, ‘Kwange’ and ‘Dutsen Mai Rama’ villages in Ningi Local Government where 19 cows, six sheep and two horses were also recovered from them, as well as a bag containing N439,000
