President of the Ekklisiyar Yan’uwa a Nigeria, EYN, Church of the Brethren in Nigeria, Rev Samuel Dali, has expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari’s effort against Boko Haram would yield the desired result adding that the activities of the insurgent group would end.
The clergy, who called on Nigerians to pray for and support the President at all times, said he was confident that with the renewed attack on the terror group, they would soon be eliminated.
“Nige¬ria will be able to overcome the Boko Haram challenge soon. I hope and believe we would be able to overcome this challenge. I will like to assure our friends and the international community that the challenge though enor¬mous but it is not beyond Nigeria’s control “.
Speaking yesterday in Jos, Dali said 70 percent of its church was destroyed in Adamawa and Borno state by members of the terror group stressing that over 8,000 of the members were killed. “At least 176 of the girls kidnapped in Chibok are our members. Some of our members are still traumatised because they have been separated from their parents, loved and other family members as a result of the activities of Boko Haram,” he said.
He urged citizens to pray for the country’s security forces, for God to give them the wisdom and ability to fight insurgency.
Dali also commended President Muhammadu Buhari for standing up against same-sex marriage during his recent visit to the United States. Stressing that he displayed courage to have rejected same-sex marriage in the USA.
