Ebonyi State House of Assembly has approved N10 billion loan for the state government.
A letter to that effect was sent to the House by Governor David Umahi and was read during Tuesday plenary by the House Leader, Hon. Joseph Nwobashi on the floor of the House.
According to the letter, Fidelity Bank plc has offered to give the state government the said loan with the payment spread within 20 years.
The governor said the loan will be used for infrastructural development in the state.
Hon. Nwobashi, who moved the motion for the approval, said it was necessary for the lawmakers to support the governor who is in haste to develop the state to better the lots of the people.
Seconding the motion, the Chief Whip, Hon. Chike Ogiji, urged his colleagues to support the motion in view of its importance to the upliftment of the state and her citizenry.
The request of the Governor received unanimous support of the lawmakers when the Speaker Nwfuru Francis put the motion to voice vote.
Also, during the plenary, the House recalled one of its suspended members, Mrs. Ude Nwachi, representing Afikpo North\ East constituency and the Minority Leader of the House.
The suspension was lifted in a motion moved by Mr. Victor Chukwu, representing Ezza North West constituency and seconded by Hon Onu Nnoye, representing Ohaozara West constituency.
Nigerian Pilot recalled that the suspension followed an alleged involvement of the minority leader in allegedly leading a violence protest and breach of peace along Abakaliki/ Afikpo federal highway, which according to investigation, caused the burning of some vehicles belonging to Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC.
Moving the motion, Mr. Chukwu noted that the suspended minority leader, Ude Nwachi, had shown enough remorse and that she had as well served the duration of her suspension.
The House also passed into law the bill seeking to amend joint state and local government projects and related matters, law of 2015.
