Fatal motor accident occurred in Enugu last weekend when a commuter bus lost control and ran into the bush.
The accident claimed no fewer than eight lives while several others sustained various degrees of injury.
It was gathered that on September 16, 2016 at about 7:15pm, the accident occurred along Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway by University of Nigeria Teaching Hospita,l Ituku Ozalla Enugu.
The vehicle with registration number AKWA IBOM KTD 58 LG was conveying people believed to be coming from a pilgrimage centre from Ezeagu Enugu State and heading back to Aba, Abia State when the unfortunate incident occurred.
According to a release from the police public relations unit, it was gathered that the driver of the said vehicle identified as Kenneth Nwigwe, a native of Enugwu Ukwu Anambra State but residing at Uratta, Aba, Abia state, while coming from Enugu axis of the road and heading towards Port Harcourt Expressway allegedly lost control and rammed into a bush and tumbled.
The injured are receiving treatment at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku Ozalla while corpses of the eight yet to be identified victims are deposited at the hospital Mortuary of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku Ozalla Enugu for identification and Autopsy as well as collection, the release points out.
The release indicates that the Enugu State command of the Nigeria Police Force through its state traffic Unit, has commenced a full scale investigation with a view to finding out the cause of the incident.
