A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism in Lagos State, Hon Philip Aivoji, has assured that the people of Badagry local government area of Lagos State will again ensure that the PDP records resounding victories in the forthcoming Governorship and House of Assembly polls.
The former commissioner, who made this remark after a meeting with the PDP stakeholders at the party’s local government secretariat in Badagry, stated that the All Progressives Congress, APC, and other parties in Badagry lacked the credibility and political clout to defeat the PDP in the forthcoming elections, even as he described as overwhelming the support the PDP has received from the people of Badagry in the last 16 years.
The PDP chieftain strongly condemned the ongoing propaganda in Badagry that the Christians have endorsed the APC, adding that the people could not be deceived by the APC’s antics as both the peace loving Christians and Muslims in the local government had made up their minds to continue voting for the PDP.
While maintaining that no amount of intimidation, blackmail or mischief will sway the people’s determination to ensure the PDP’s victories in Badagry and Lagos State in particular and Nigeria in general, Aivoji, however, expressed his appreciation to the people for ignoring the APC’s propaganda, warning the APC to desist from this cheap propaganda of using religion to campaign in the area.
The former commissioner further stressed that with the various federal government projects in Badagry, it was the collective wish of the people to have a PDP government in Lagos from 2015.
He noted that, the Lagos State gubernatorial election will be won by the PDP, more so that people of the State of Excellence were daily getting disenchanted with the APC controlled government.
In a related development, the Badagry Christian Community has denied endorsing any of the political parties in the forthcoming elections. Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Ahisu, Bishop of the Diocese of Badagry (Methodist Church), who spoke on behalf of the Badagry Christian Community, emphasized that it was a mere propaganda by one of the parties to secure votes, adding that the body has never and will never adopt any political party.
