DIAMOND Bank depositors in Lagos have said their inability to withdraw money through the Automated Teller Machines, ATMs was frustrating and negated e-banking culture.
They told the Nigerian Pilot in separate interviews that Diamond Bank network failures made it impossible for them to utilise the services.
Effort for Diamond Bank customers to make withdrawals both at ATM and in the banking halls were frustrated by poor network.
According to some customers, I went to Diamond Bank at Oshodi last friday to withdraw money from ATM but couldn’t get the money.
Today (Tuesday) I went to Diamond Bank at Ipaja road to withdraw but was told by the security personnels that the ATM machines weren’t dispensing.
I left there and went to the Branch at Iyana Ipaja bus stop on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.
On getting into the banking hall filled with customers I was told to go to the branch where I opened the account if I want to withdraw.
I am just stranded because I opened my account in Abuja and don’t know what to do as I am cash strapped.
Mr. Steve David, a business man, said he came to Diamond Bank to withdraw some money after spending all he had.
Steve, who expressed frustration at the inability of the Diamond Bank ATM to dispense cash to customers, called on the institutions to address issues of network failure, especially weekends.
“I came to the bank as early as 7.30 a.m. to withdraw via ATM but was surprised that there was no network.
“There is network failure and you are debited without the machine dispensing cash to you.
“The customers are helpless and there is a large crowd inside the hall; the situation is highly frustrating,” said.
Ademol Alawiye, a civil servant, also complained about network fluctuations at the bank which had kept so many customers wishing to withdraw through the ATM stranded.
